A one-van accident Monday night killed a toddler and seriously injured two in Barry County, Missouri Highway Patrol has reported.

Cyrus E. Chapman, age 2, of Eagle Rock was in a 1996 Plymouth van when the eastbound vehicle -- driven by Matthew J. Chapman, 33, also of Eagle Rock -- went off Barry County F, four miles east of Roaring River and struck an embankment.

The boy was dead at the scene shortly after midnight, according to Barry County Coroner Skip White.

Matthew J. Chapman and another passenger, Abby L. Chapman, 4, of Eagle Rock, were seriously injured. Both were flown to Cox South hospital in Springfield.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, but both Cyrus and Abby were fastened to their seats, according to the patrol report.
