The 26-year-old's case will be presented to jurors in July of next year.

Douglas is charged with misdemeanor careless and imprudent driving stemming from the October 2007 crash that killed Greene County Deputy Gary McCormack, 32.

When the crash occurred in the early hours of Oct. 6, 2007, both Douglas and McCormack were speeding to the scene of a reported accident with unknown injuries.

A Missouri Highway Patrol report found Douglas was driving north on Farm Road 145 toward his fire station as McCormack was speeding west on WW to the accident scene.

Both men had emergency lights and sirens activated. At the intersection of 145 and WW, Douglas faced a stop sign. McCormack did not.

The charge against Douglas carries a potential jail penalty of one year. As of Tuesday, Douglas' trial is set for July 29.
